The level of security for the Sorochinskiy Fair should be the highest possible – Golovko

The issue of security of visitors during this year’s Sorochinskiy Fair should be considered a priority. All law enforcement agencies should take measures to ensure that people feel safe. This was said by the Chairman of the Poltava Regional State Administration Valeriy Golovko, while visiting meeting on preparation for the National Sorochinskiy Fair.
“The second year running we hold this fair in difficult times for Ukraine. The state now has the problem of Russian aggression, so it is important during the National Sorochinskiy Fair – to protect visitors and participants. It will be crowded, many foreign visitors will be here, so it’s a big request to organizers and related services to make the emphasis on safety. We must show that we can fight and protect the borders of our country and the safety of citizens. People need to trade, demonstrate their products, guests should rest, all should feel that peaceful life goes on today, and Poltava region is proud of its achievements, “- said Golovko.
He appealed to the law enforcement authorities to increase the number of personnel for protection of public order during the event.
“If Mirgorod’s and surrounding areas law enforcement authorities will not have enough personnel, I would ask you to provide additional number of police officers. They will need to inspect carefully the entire transport, security of visitors – the main thing. I believe that we should not do police clusters on the territory of the fair, it’s better to “take it to the circle” outside. We must do so that people are wouldn’t have the feeling that it was some special object we seriously guarded, people should feel comfortable here. Also nearby there is an object of strategic importance – the airfield, so to avoid any provocation, I would like all structures to work in the emergency mode. Dog handlers also have to take part “- said Valery Golovko.
He noted that currently he is very pleased of how all the services are preparing for the fair.
“I am very appreciated of their work. Services that are responsible for security and control, ready to hold Sorochinskiy Fair of high quality “- said Golovko.
Also chairman of the Poltava Regional State Administration instructed State Emergency Service of Poltava region to ensure the fair territory and beyond a sufficient number of personnel and equipment.
Concerning the first persons of Ukraine who will visit the National Sorochinskiy Fair this year, Valery Golovko said:
“Tomorrow will be a meeting with the prime minister in Kiev, so after this meeting I will know who of the first persons of the country will come to the fair. We have invited all Ministers, the Head of Verkhovna Rada, deputies, so we are waiting for them.”
